We have a variety of community activities and events throughout the year, which you can find on our calendar. Our regular programs include Camp For The Culture, a summer camp for youth of African descent, and the Mini Nurse Academy, hosted by KinCultivate in partnership with the Alliance of Black Nurses Association of Oregon. The Mini Nurse Academy is a 2-day pop-up program designed for 3rd-6th graders of diverse backgrounds, brought to you in partnership with the Alliance of Black Nurses Association. This engaging program promotes nursing as a career in underrepresented communities, highlights the representation of Black nurses, and involves kids in hands-on health education activities like CPR demonstrations and first aid training. Free registration and lunch are provided. Our next sessions will be held on October 5th and October 13th from 10 AM to 3 PM at the Mid-Willamette Family YMCA.

Join environmental educator Chrisha Favors for an immersive hiking experience that blends adventure with deep reflection. During this hike, Chrisha will guide you through a scenic route while sharing her extensive knowledge of native plants, mushrooms, and their cultural significance. As you traverse the trails, Chrisha will weave in moments for introspection and meditation, connecting you with the wisdom of the land and honoring Black and Indigenous ancestors.

Join us for a magical, musical, and culturally enriching story time with the award-winning Nikki Brown Clown, in partnership with our good friends at the Albany Public Library! Nikki, a beloved literacy advocate, brings excitement and unforgettable experiences to every event. Her goal, which we share, is to promote cultural pride among Black youth while engaging children of diverse backgrounds. Through her engaging tales, Nikki inspires laughter, fun, and greater appreciation for diverse stories and experiences.

We invite teens from diverse backgrounds to embark on an enriching journey through the fields of farming and culinary arts, focusing on the African diaspora and heritage. This one-day camp offers hands-on experiences with local Black farmers and chefs, highlighting career opportunities in agriculture and cuisine. Participants will learn about traditional farming practices, culinary techniques, and the significant contributions of Black professionals in these fields.
